John Lilly (born 1971) was the Chief Executive Officer of the Mozilla Corporation,[1] a subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation that coordinates development of open source Mozilla Internet applications, including the Mozilla Firefox web browser.
Lilly succeeded Mitchell Baker in this role in January, 2008. Previously, Lilly was Chief Operating Officer at Mozilla Corporation. Lilly was succeeded by Gary Kovacs.[2]
John Lilly currently serves on the board of directors of the Open Source Applications Foundation and Participatory Culture Foundation. He earned a B.S. and M.S. in computer science from Stanford University and is the (co)-inventor on seven US patents.[3]
On May 11, 2010 Lilly announced that he would be resigning as CEO of the Mozilla Corporation as of November 8, 2010.[4]
